In this portrait of Terry, I aimed to explore the presence and dignity of the military uniform. I contrasted the earthy tones of the camouflage with a deep, plum-coloured background, while using expressive brushwork to highlight the character and stoicism in his face. I wanted this painting to be a thoughtful study of identity, service, and the weight of the soldier’s mantle.
