Two quick portrait studies of Ray. I was taken with his striking profile and wanted to emphasise his character through contrast. I used a palette of warm ochres and brilliant whites to define the subject’s weathered features and silver hair, while the bold purple garment provides a strong, grounding weight to the composition.
